2010 - Opportunities

Friends

It's that time of year again where I get all mushy. I am a sucker for the holiday season from Thanksgiving through New Years. Now that my kids are older (or maybe its because I'm older) my level of mushiness is out of control. I even have a child who is "coming home for the holidays" from college. OY! But I promised to try to keep it in check.

First and foremost, spending time with my family is a blessing. Don't get me wrong, having three teenage daughters is a challenge, (and I might not be their favorite person all of the time), but I am a lucky man to have these four women in my life. I would be just a shell without them. I am thankful for that.

As always, I have wonderful people in my life. I am very fortunate to have so many people I can call my friends. I am thankful for that.

This year I am focusing on being thankful for the opportunities that have come my way. The opportunities that my parents gave me to have a life that they could never image possible. The opportunities that presented themselves just because I grew up so close to New York City. The opportunity to share my life with a wonderful life partner who has guided me for 30 years. The opportunity to be able to raise 3 wonderful children (hopefully I haven't screwed that up too badly). The opportunities that have presented themselves over my 30 year career (even the ones I didn't take). And finally the opportunity to be able to give back, to be able to create opportunities for our young people and those who, well, just need an opportunity. I am thankful.

Have a wonderful, safe and Happy Thanksgiving

Love
Tom
